Implants Can Restore Your Life
- April 22, 2016
Welcome to the Gentle Dental Care blog! We are a comprehensive dental practice located in the heart of Connecticut. If you live in the region, we’d love to have you visit our Plainville office sometime soon to see what all we can do for the health and appearance of your smile.
If you happened to read the last blog entry, you already know that most of the tooth loss among American adults is caused by advanced forms of gum disease. But that is not the only way in which someone can lose a tooth. It can happen as the result of prolonged decay or it can happen quickly in a car crash. Regardless, the most important thing will be to find a viable solution for restoring your smile and keeping your life from deteriorating more.
Keep reading to see what we mean, and to hear about our (almost) perfect solution for missing teeth.
Nutrition Depends On A Good Set Of Teeth
When you have a complete set of functional teeth, it is easy to take for granted the fact that you can eat all the fiber-rich foods you want. This is huge because fiber helps keep your heart healthy and your daily digestion on track. It also plays a role in preventing weight gain, hemorrhoids, and strokes.
Without teeth, however, you will find it difficult, if not impossible, to chew high-fiber foods. You will be forced to avoid these healthy menu items.
Over time, this turn of events will negatively impact your health!
Implants Make You Feel And Look Better
Tooth loss will destroy your smile AND your confidence. Your looks will certainly suffer, and things in your mouth won’t feel like they are supposed to.
The holes in your smile, and your caved-in cheeks will make you look much older. Talking, laughing, and eating in public will cause you discomfort and embarrassment.
Lucky for you, dental implants from Gentle Dental Care can quickly turn this mess around for you so that you can start to feel like yourself again.
Our implants fix teeth, restore health, and improve the quality of life. That’s great, but what are they?
Dental Implants Are The Perfect Solution
Here’s how it works: first we will take detailed impressions of your teeth to use as a model for your new replacement teeth.
Then, the titanium rod, that functions as a “root,” will be surgically inserted into the jaw where the missing tooth was. Don’t worry, if that makes you nervous, sedation is available for the procedure, so you will not experience any discomfort or pain.
We are Gentle Dental Care, after all!
Following the initial phase, the root is allowed to fuse with your bone for a few months. The restoration of the implant is when the replacement tooth is attached. This is the part that mimics the look of a tooth. For an individual implant, an abutment is screwed onto the titanium rod and your custom dental crown, shaded to match the rest of your teeth, is secured on top.
In the end, your new “tooth” will look and feel natural. And you’ll be back to your old tricks before too long.
