Looking For A Pleasant Dental Experience In Connecticut?
- June 3, 2016
Welcome to the Gentle Dental Care blog!
We are always happy to see one of our patients smiling confidently again. Our team recently had a success story that we wanted to share with you, primarily because some of you reading this will no doubt be able to relate.
Finding The Confidence To Call
A few weeks back we got a call at our Plainville office from a potential patient who had not been to the dentist in quite some time. She was, understandably, nervous about making an appointment. In fact, she was anxious about dental offices to begin with, which is why it had been so long since her last checkup.
Fortunately, we were able to convince her that we would go easy on her. There wouldn’t be any lectures or disapproving looks from anyone here. When she showed up for her appointment we paid attention to her individualized needs and helped her get the care she deserved in a more gentle fashion than other area dentists might have provided.
As such, she made a major step in working through her long-term dental anxiety. She felt great about her oral health for the first time in a long time. Plus, she saved herself a whole lot of trouble down the road. What kind of trouble? Oh, you know: root canals, extractions, and so forth. That particular patient’s story had a happy ending. We know that yours can too, but we can’t help you if we don’t know what your needs are.
If you have any reservations whatsoever, please let us know. We definitely want you to realize that, at Gentle Dental Care, we maintain a welcoming environment and we are not afraid to employ sedation techniques when appropriate.
As you have probably heard, sedation dentistry requires advanced training and specialized tools that you might not find everywhere in Connecticut. But, as always, we’ve got you covered. That’s because we know how important it is to keep up with your regular visits to our office.
We all want to know if anything is amiss. It is far better to handle gum disease, tooth decay, and even cancer, sooner rather than later. What’s more, it’s awfully nice to have a fresh, clean mouth, and a winning smile. So, we will do whatever it takes to help you get around any obstacles that may be in your path.
Sedation Dentistry Can Alleviate Your Fears!
In our office, we can set you up with sedation anytime you need to go through what you view as an unpleasant procedure, or when you simply need to relax your fears a bit more.
There are three increasingly potent sedation options around here:
Inhalation Sedation: This type of sedation involves the use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to normalize your bodily functions and relax you for your procedure. It is a comfortable method of relaxation, and you can get back to whatever you were doing in no time.
Oral Sedation: Depending on your situation, you may prefer an orally administered form of sedation. We will give you a pill that you have to take prior to your visit. But fair warning: you won’t be in any shape to drive when you leave.
IV Sedation: Injecting the sedative into your bloodstream is the best we can do for extreme fear or invasive dental work. The result is immediate and you will find yourself relaxing straightaway.
