Short-Term Orthodontics, Long-Term Happiness

Welcome back to the Gentle Dental Care blog!

We hope that our online home has been a good source of dentistry-related information for you and your family. And if you are looking for a compassionate dentist in Plainville, CT, we hope that you will soon pay us a visit in-person.

We try to provide a welcoming environment and we do our best to make it easier for you to get all the dental solutions you need to keep your smile looking its best.

How do you feel about the smile you see in the mirror every morning?

Are there bothersome issues that you just can’t seem to get past? Then you are not alone. Most of us were not born with perfectly shaped, evenly spaced teeth.

The question is: are you ready to transform your collection of crooked, crowded, or gapped teeth into something special? Or do you want to go on hoping it will magically take care of itself?

Maybe you assume that you have missed your window of opportunity for orthodontic treatment since you are well past your teen years now. Or is it that you have made a conscious decision not to humiliate yourself by wearing metal brackets and wires for 2-3 years in front of your friends and business associates?

Well, the good news is that you are never too old to get a better smile, and we can make it happen in well under 2 years, without the use of any metal whatsoever.

Ready To Hear More?

Gentle Dental Care is certified to place invisible orthodontic aligners (aka clear aligners) and many of our patients have had great success correcting alignment and bite problems with this method.

Aligners Are Better Than Brackets And Wires

Our orthodontic aligners are a series of custom-made soft plastic retainers that slip directly over your teeth for a comfortable fit throughout your treatment.

How Do Aligners Straighten Teeth?

Once you have been determined to be a good candidate for clear aligners at Gentle Dental Care, Dr. Peltzer will do a complete workup and diagnosis of your alignment and bite problems, and prescribe a series of clear aligners to correct and straighten your teeth.
Each aligner tightly molds to your teeth, exerting gradual pressure to shift and rotate your teeth into alignment.

The Advantages Are Clear

You will need to wear your aligners most of each day for several weeks at a stretch, and then start another one to keep the process moving forward. The nice thing is that you can do this on your own, so there is no need for monthly in-office adjustments like conventional braces would require.

What’s more, you can take your clear aligners out for eating and cleaning purposes, which makes for a much more pleasant experience than treatments involving metal hardware. It also eliminates the need for special tools and dietary restrictions.

The total treatment time should take somewhere between 10 and 20 months, depending on the severity of your issues. And no one will ever know about the construction zone in your mouth until the process is complete and you emerge with a radiant new smile.

Will Clear Orthodontic Aligners Work For Everyone?

To get the ball rolling, you will need to come in for a consultation with our Plainville, CT dental team.

We have found that our orthodontic aligners are very effective for people with minor crowding, gaps between their teeth, and mild alignment problems.

Hopefully they will be the right fit for your current needs and budget.

Full disclosure: patients who have severe alignment and bite problems, or have very wide spaces between their teeth, would probably benefit from a more complex treatment with traditional orthodontics.
