Where Does Dental Anxiety Come From?
Painful procedures and other such bad experiences from the past are the leading causes of dental anxiety and fear of the dentist. The sad thing about all this is that, chances are, whichever procedure inflicted that pain was either executed the wrong way or was performed in a manner that has been improved upon on account of more modern tools and technologies.
Here’s what you need to know: our Plainville, CT dentist’s office is all about providing pain-free, pleasant, and personable dentistry and we are here to help you make create better dental memories for the future.
How Can Fear Of The Dentist Be Treated?
Dr. Peltzer can help you figure out what it is that is holding you back. Did you have an unfortunate encounter with a dental drill? Was your childhood dentist off-putting? Did you hate the building itself? Regardless, we will show that things will be different with us.
What Can I Expect At Gentle Dental Care?
First of all, if you ever feel any level of pain because of anything we are doing, we will stop right away until we have made sure you that are comfortable enough to go on.
The office itself is warm and welcoming, and the staff here is kind and compassionate. What’s more, there won’t be any condescending lectures or harsh judgements from us, only encouragement, and a solid plan of action for your health.
Is Dental Sedation Available?
For anyone who needs a little extra help relaxing, we have several great dental sedation options. We offer nitrous oxide (aka laughing gas), which will deliver a mild sedation to take the edge off of your nerves.
To take it further, Dr. Peltzer can set you up with oral sedation. This can be mild to moderate depending on your need. You will still be awake but extremely relaxed, and you will definitely need to line up a ride home.
For the deepest form of sedation (administered through an IV), you would normally have to be in a hospital setting. However, Dr. Peltzer has received the necessary training and certification to be able to administer it right here in our cozy office.
