Smiling Through The Back To School Blitz
- August 7, 2017
Now that August is upon us, everyone is dreading leaving summer behind and falling into that back to school grind. But once it happens, most people actually find that it is fun to be busy again. That said, we don’t want you to be so busy that you forget your oral health needs. That’s why today, we want to remind everyone what a great preventive dentistry routine looks like. Keep reading, and then be sure to schedule your next visit to our Central Connecticut dentist’s office!
Brushing Twice Daily
It might sound crazy, but even before your kids get your first tooth, there is dangerous bacteria, tartar and plaque present in their mouths. There was/is in your mouth too! To successfully keep tooth decay, periodontal disease, bad breath, and tooth loss out of your family, everyone in your household should be brushing their teeth and gums a minimum of twice a day, and for two minutes at a go. That’s a pretty easy request!
Remember: no matter how much time you spend brushing your teeth, you still won’t be able to reach all the areas of your mouth where food, plaque, tartar, etc. can linger waiting to cause trouble. Taking the time to do this daily will save you money and time (and spare you from unnecessary pain) later.
Rinsing With Fluoride
Here’s something you may not know: fluoride promotes the retention of your natural teeth. It is contained in many mouthwashes, and can be accessed for free in most U.S. tap water. As such, it is easy to add fluoride to your daily routine. You can even get it at the dentist’s office, which brings us to our next point!
