The Proof Is In The Porcelain Veneers
- January 19, 2016
Take a moment to think about your teeth. Take a look at your smile if you have photo handy or a mirror nearby.
What would you like to change?
Now look at your hands. Do you think something as thin as your fingernails could improve your smile?
The answer is yes, something that thin can completely change the appearance of your teeth. Porcelain veneers can give you a better, and natural-looking smile, in just a couple visits to Gentle Dental Care.
If you live in or near Plainville, call or come by our dentist office to learn how cosmetic dentistry could change how you — and the rest of the world — sees your smile.
What Can Veneers Do For You?
It might be easier to explain what veneers can’t do. Within the field of cosmetic dentistry, veneers may be one of the fastest and more versatile ways to improve the appearance of your teeth.
Rather than going into details, we’ll give you examples of three fictitious patients who might benefit from veneers. While the names are made up, their problems are quite real for many people.
• Alan has teeth that are discolored and appear to be worn down.
This could be the result of poor dental hygiene, tobacco use, one too many cups of coffee, or any combination of those things. He is getting married later this year, and he wants to look his absolute best for his bride-to-be on their wedding day.
• Kathy has teeth that are misshapen, crooked, and unevenly spaced. Since she graduated from college, she has worked at the same company in the pretty much the same job.
She’s been too embarrassed by her teeth to apply for a promotion or to seek a job elsewhere. Her biggest fear is that people will see her teeth and dismiss her as a candidate even though she has the skills to do much more than she has been doing.
• Matt is a construction worker. A few years ago, he was on a job site. One of his coworkers had the tool he needed. Instead of going up a few flights of stairs to get it, he told his coworker to just drop it to him.
Matt missed, and the tool hit him in the mouth. He now has three broken teeth, and his coworkers call him “Chip.” At work, he tries to pretend this doesn’t bother him, but inside, he wishes his teeth could go back to the way they were.
Believe it or not, porcelain veneers can be used to fix all of those problems and others that we haven’t mentioned.
Too Good To Be True?
We know you may be wondering how one type of cosmetic dentistry can fix all these problems.
It’s true, and we will explain how. You have probably seen or at least heard of fake fingernails. These can make your nails look more stylish, even if it’s only a temporary fix.
Now imagine those nails could last for years or decades. That’s basically what veneers do for your teeth.
Porcelain veneers are a kind of shell that we can place over your natural teeth to change the appearance in just a couple visits to our office.
Getting veneers is a three-step process. During your first visit, we’ll take X-rays and discuss how veneers can change your teeth to give you the smile you want.
On your second visit, we will prepare your teeth by buffing away some of the enamel. You will receive a local anesthetic so you won’t have any discomfort during this process.
Then, we will make an impression of your teeth to send to the lab. It generally takes a week or two to create your veneers.
When they are ready, you will return to our office. We will bond your veneers to your teeth. When we are finished, your smile will look better than it has in years.
If you have any doubts about the difference that veneers can make. Take a look at our smile gallery, and be sure to pay attention to the before and after pictures of patients who have received veneers.
You will see patients who now have whiter, brighter, straighter, and evenly spaced smiles because of veneers.
